Dr. Iñigo Martinez de Alegría

Iñigo Martinez de Alegría was born in Bilbao (Spain) in 1972. He joined the Faculty of Science (ETSI, www.ingeniaritza-bilbao.ehu.es) of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU, Spain) to study Physics, obtaining his combined B.S. and M.S. degree in 1996.

After finishing this degree, he became a recipient of the Fundacion de Centros Tecnologicos research grant. He received his PhD in Physiscs (Cum Laude, Winner of “GL Garrad Hassan Global PhD Award in Renewable Energy 2012) from the UPV/EHU.

Currently he is a principal researcher in Power Electronics in the APERT Research Group and a full-time lecturer at the UPV/EHU. His research interests gravitate on the application of Power Electronics in Renewable Energy, DC power distribution and Electric Vehicle. In these fields he has published more than 50 scientific articles, co-supervised 1 Ph.D. thesis (+ 2 ongoing), co-authored 2 patents and participated/led more than 35 research projects. He has also been involved in the organization of various national and international conferences.
